Know God

2 Timothy 3:15 “…and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”

Pray that your children know God’s Word and are saved through faith in Christ.

Trust in God

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Pray that your children put their trust in God, and they would follow Him and Him alone.

Choose Good Friends

Proverbs 1:10 “My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give into them.”

Pray that your children make good friends that will not lead them down a sinful path. Also that your children can discern who is a good friend, and who is not.

Pure Heart

Psalms 51:10 “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Pray that your children have pure hearts, and that their thoughts and actions are pure and holy.

Strong and Courageous

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Pray that your children are strong and courageous, and that the know and trust that God is with them, wherever they go.

Always Be Kind

Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Pray that your children are kind to others and that they love easily and forgive quickly.

Work Hard

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, …”

Pray that your children understand the value of work and that they work hard for the Lord, and not just for others.

Marry a Godly Spouse

Ephesians 5:33 “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”

Pray that your children will one day marry a godly spouse and their love towards each other will endure. That they both love God and are kind and compassionate towards each other.

Protection and Health

John 17:15 “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.”

Pray that God protects them mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Pray that they are covered with health and protection.

Peace

Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Pray that your children’s minds are flooded with peace. That they are not anxious and instead turn to God in prayer and thanksgiving.

I hope you find these prayers helpful, as I have for many years now. Check out this post about prayers for stepmoms or bonus moms too! Another very helpful blog I found a few years ago has some great prayers to pray over your children, and you can check it out here.
