Organized Dog Supplies in 3 Easy Steps

I thought I had organized the dog supplies in my home. A year or so ago, I put them all in a basket and stuck the basket on the sink counter in our laundry room. It was the “Dog Supplies Basket.” The only problem is… it looked like this.

Obviously, this is by no means organized dog supplies. Everything is overflowing, as treats and supplements weren’t even in the basket. It also had to be dug through in order to find anything for my precious pup, Poppy. We actually ended up losing our little “doggie bags carrier” because of this mess. It was time to clear off my counter and fix this ugly space.

1. Empty Everything

Like many of the organizing projects I tackle, this was a small space. It did not take long to empty out this basket. Unfortunately, the combination of the dark stain of this basket by a sink with water, created stains on my countertop too. Luckily, after a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (#ad) and some elbow grease, the stains were gone. I was glad to be rid of this mess. Instead of this basket, my plan was to get a hanging organizer for the skinny door of our laundry chute. The laundry chute door was still in our laundry room (of course), and it also houses the dog food bin we have. So I feel like behind that door is the perfect spot to store away my pup’s things.

2. Declutter and Sort

Most of these items I needed to keep. I only threw one pop-up bowl away because the carabiner had fallen off and been lost. So, as I sorted through the items, I created a few groups. Dog grooming supplies, dog clothes, dog walking supplies, and dog treats. Oh the things we do for our dogs! I found this perfect hanging organizer (#ad) to put all of Poppy’s things in.

I really like this organizer, because it ends up looking just like the picture on Amazon. It was also skinny enough for my mini-door. When it came in, it was folded up with little inserts. There were inserts for the bottom of each bin, as well as two inserts for each side of the bins. These keep the bins in perfect position for holding all your things.

3. Organize and Make It Pretty

After sorting through all the dog supplies and assembling this hanging organizer, it was time to organize my dog’s supplies into these bins and make it pretty. I used two bins for Poppy’s coat and clothes, two bins for treats, one bin for her grooming supplies, and the last bin for all the things we use for walks.

Overall, it cleaned off my counter and made all her supplies neat and tidy. Another spot where I can breathe easy when I go to look for any needed dog item! Now, my counter area is also neat and tidy! My laundry room feels 10 times bigger without the overflowing basket on the counter! I hope this inspires you to organize a small area in your home! I leave you with a picture of the finished product, as well as a puppy picture of Poppy that will make your heart melt!
